Milwaukee Ends Dogs Mini Streak

In one of the whackiest games of the year, the Dogs dropped game two in Milwaukee by a final of 8-2, snapping their two-game winning streak. Thanks to an injury and an ejection, the Dogs were without two of their biggest bats for most of the game, and yet another difficult game for the pitching staff caused the door to open for Milwaukee to even the series.

Connor Lockwood struggled through five innings in his start, giving up five runs on twelve hits and a walk, striking out just two. The Milkmen singled him out of his start, and not many of the runs scored on hard-hit baseballs. Grant Cherry struck out two in his two innings of work, allowing just one run to score on a Delvin Perez solo shot. J.C. Flowers struggled, giving up two runs while recording just two outs. He allowed one hit and two walks, and struck out two himself. Kelvan Pilot recorded the last out in the eighth inning.

In just his second at-bat of the game, Tyreque Reed lost his bat on a swing that re-injured his finger. The same thing had happened to him the evening before, however Reed had stayed in the game. Tonight, he was replaced defensively, with Chance Sisco moving over to first, and Daniel Harris coming in to play second base. Unfortunately, this was not the end of the defensive changes for Chicago. In Sisco’s third plate appearance, he was ejected for arguing with the home plate umpire over a missed pitch clock violation, and had to be pinch-hit for in the middle of the plate appearance. Derek Maiben came in and did the best he could, filling in at third base, pushing Nick Roselli to second, and Harris to first base. At the end of the day,

Chicago collected ten hits, scoring just two runs, both of which came on bases-loaded walks in the eighth inning. The RBI were given to Giovanni DiGiacomo and Roselli.
