After a win to end the losing streak on Sunday evening, the Dogs carried the momentum to Milwaukee on Tuesday, finalizing a 9-7 win over the Milkmen to start the series on a high note.
The Dogs ace Steven Lacey was backed by a Chicago offense that has been firing on all cylinders recently, and continues to tear the cover off the ball. Steven Lacey produced yet another dominant start, striking out seven in his five and a third innings of work, allowing just one run, which scored in the first inning. Milwaukee collected just six base runners against him on four hits and two walks. He earned the win, thanks to his offense getting out ahead early.
Regi Grace Jr. had another good outing from the pen as well, allowing one run on a walk and no hits in an inning and two thirds of work. While Cade Herrmann struggled in his outing, giving up three runs, Austin Eaton shut the door in the ninth, carving up three Milwaukee hitters in his four-out save.
As has been the case lately, the Dogs offense put on a show. Fifteen hits and five walks produced nine runs, including three innings where Chicago put up a crooked number. Four Dogs had multiple hits, including Ethan Wilder, Chance Sisco, Zach Stokes, and Gio DiGiacomo. Six of the nine starters collected an RBI, with Stokes and Jaxx Groshans each driving in multiple. The go-ahead run proved to be the second RBI hit of the night for Stokes, which came on a single in the top of the eighth, part of a three-run inning for Chicago.
