Affiliated And Independent Minor League Baseball NFT Trading Cards, Crypto Digital Art, And Other NFTs

If you are interested in non-fungible tokens (NFTs) of affiliated and independent professional minor league baseball teams, leagues and players – and related digital crypto collectible assets – then this page will go into more detail and options for you to explore.

Houston Apollos 2021 NFT Baseball Card Team Set

2021 Houston Apollos team photo - American Association independent professional baseball

The Houston Apollos are a team owned by the Pecos League and, during the 2021 season, played all 100 games as the road / travel team for the American Association.  The players were contracted by the Pecos League and many had played in the Pecos League in 2020 or early 2021 before joining the Apollos.

Andrew Dunn, founder and commissioner of the Pecos League, agreed to attempt a non-traditional approach toward getting publicity for the Apollos as well as the Pecos League and independent professional baseball in general.  The decision was made to produce the first-ever traditional “minor league” team card set, except sold entirely as non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

The cards were made, featuring many of the Apollos players from the 2021 season, and the individual cards now can be purchased on OpenSea.io.  This the same NFT online platform where the American Association’s NFTs can be purchased (see lower on this page for more about the AA’s NFT collection).

Those who purchase the NFT trading cards through their wallets (approved for OpenSea) will be recorded in the blockchain as being original owners of the first-ever NFT minor league baseball (independent or affiliated MiLB) team card set.  Should there be a secondary market for this particular set of NFT card, then the original owners (those who bought on the OpenSea platform) will be able to sell their card(s) on OpenSea to new prospective buyers.  The card set was limited to a maximum of 100 NFT’s per player card, and a few of the cards have unlockable content bonuses – exclusive to the buyer of that NFT.

*** This website wants to clarify that the Apollos NFT card set is the first “team card set” for any minor league baseball team (independent or affiliated/MiLB) to be sold as NFTs.  However, MLB and Candy Digital already have created MLB “icon packs” which contain up to 30 MLB prospects – all sold as NFTs.  The MLB/Candy Digital “prospect NFT” series is not a traditional “team set” as many people are used to purchasing at independent and MiLB stadiums around the country.  Instead that “set” picks one prospect from each MLB organization’s minor league farm system. https://mlb.candy.com/products/4be70673-ad64-469d-8faf-6ee426ab324a

The Apollos NFT trading cards were launched during the week of Monday January 17, 2022 on the OpenSea.io NFT trading platform.  The NFT cards are on the Polygon blockchain and have been denominated for sale, as individual cards, in the ETH cryptocurrency.  Interested parties may purchase the cards through OpenSea using an approved wallet (such as MetaMask) and may purchase using ETH, USDC and a couple of alternative crytpo coins/tokens.
