For the first time all season, the Chicago Dogs have won four games in a row. After winning the series in Milwaukee, the Dogs faced their second Wisconsin-based team of the week, hosting the Lake Country DockHounds for four games in three days. The double header sweep on Friday was followed up by a 4-2 Dogs win on Saturday, and Chicago is currently on a roll, having won five of their last six games.
Lake Country scored first, which so far in this series has not been a good sign. The team that has scored first in this matchup in 2026 has lost every single game, with this game being no different. Two runs in the third inning off of Austin Eaton on a home run were all Lake Country would get. Eaton went four innings, and allowed just the two runs on six hits and no walks or strikeouts. Then came the best performance of the night, with Donny Tober twirling three shutout innings, striking out three, allowing just three hits. Dominic Guzman collected the win, going two perfect himself in the eighth and ninth, striking out three along the way.
Chicago didn’t have a whole lot of offense, but they got enough, and at clutch moments. Jacob Maiben got Chicago on the board on a groundout in the bottom of the third, scoring Giovanni DiGiacomo. Maiben later singled DiGiacomo home in the fifth inning as well, at which poin the game was tied at two. Then, DiGiacomo came up clutch in the bottom of the eighth inning, forcing an opposite field double down the left field line to give Chicago the lead. That was followed a few hitters later with a bases loaded hit by pitch to Daniel Harris, scoring Jonathan Soto, who had reached on a beautiful bunt single earlier in the inning. While it wasn’t overwhelming, the Chicago offense did their part, and supported their pitching staff just enough.
