Rockers manage 4 hits in loss to Hagerstown

HAGERSTOWN, Md. – The High Point Rockers managed just four hits off four different Hagerstown pitchers as the Flying Boxcars evened the three-game series with a 4-0 win at Meritus Park on Wednesday night.

The Rockers fell to 14-15 overall and 43-49 on the year. Hagerstown improved to 12-17 and 53-39.

Hagerstown took a 1-0 lead in the second when Jackson Hauge homered off High Point starter Yuhi Sako (L, 7-7).  The Flying Boxcars put up three more runs in the fourth on a two-run single from Robert Brooks and an RBI single from Dalton Bargo.

The Rockers were held without a hit until Ty Hubbard beat out an infield single with two outs in the third. High Point also received hits from Hogan Windish who doubled in the fourth and two hits in the eighth when the Rockers loaded the bases. Bryson Parks singled with one out, Luke Napleton singled and Ivan Melendez drew a walk. But Hagerstown reliever Michael Brewer was able to get Windish to fly out to right to end the threat.

Sako allowed six hits and four runs with a walk and four strikeouts over his five innings of work. Joe Testa (W, 1-0) earned the win with three perfect innings of relief work, striking out three.
