It was a relatively cut and dry loss for the Dogs on Wednesday night, as the Milkmen took the second game of the series by a final of 4-2. The offense never really got going, as Chicago collected just six hits, scoring only two runs, none prior to the sixth inning. The little offense they did have came with two outs, first on an Ethan Wilder triple in the sixth, scoring Gio DiGiacomo. The second run came on a two-out double in the eighth inning, off the bat of Wilder yet again, this time scoring Derek Maiben.
Andres Diaz looked good on the mound, setting a season high with seven strikeouts through his seven innings of work. Unfortunately, Milwaukee hitters were able to muscle four solo home runs out to left field throughout the course of the game, with two in the fourth, one in the sixth, and one in the seventh. After the third inning, the Milkmen had just four hits, but all of them left the ballpark. Rayne Supple tossed a scoreless eighth, working around a walk via the double play, but the line ended there, as Chicago wouldn’t need to send a pitcher out for the bottom of the ninth, leaving the winning run on deck in the top half.
The Dogs complete their series against Milwaukee on Thursday evening before heading up to Lake Country to take on the DockHounds for three games. Dwayne Marshall looks to win the series for the Dogs on Thursday, working off back-to-back quality starts in his last two outings. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30pm CST.
