UTICA, Mich. – The Westside Woolly Mammoths (22-16) delivered a dominant performance Wednesday night at UWM Field, defeating the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers (21-17), 10-0. Westside jumped out to a 5-0 advantage through the first two innings and never looked back, finishing the night with 13 hits while holding Birmingham to just two.
Westside wasted little time getting on the board. Caleb Marmo opened the bottom of the first with a triple and ultimately helped the Mammoths take a 1-0 lead. The offense broke the game open with four runs in the second before adding another in the fourth.
Kyle Revere led the Mammoths at the plate with a perfect 4-for-4 performance, including a double, while Brady Krzciok collected two hits and scored twice. Dante Morton provided the biggest swing of the night, blasting a three-run home run in the eighth inning to finish with three RBI and two runs scored. Dalton Pearson and Kyle Hvidsten each drove in two runs as Westside’s lineup combined for 13 hits and drew 13 walks.
The Mammoths were equally impressive on the mound. Conor Gausselin earned the win after allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out five over six scoreless innings. Ray Euson, David Craig and Gavin Brasosky combined for three scoreless innings out of the bullpen, with Brasosky striking out two in a perfect ninth to finish the shutout. Westside pitching surrendered only two hits and struck out eight in the victory.
The Mammoths capped off their big night with four runs in the eighth, putting the finishing touches on a 10-0 victory over the Beavers at UWM Field.
