WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Goldeyes (40-28) beat the Lake Country DockHounds 10-3 at Shaw Park on Sunday afternoon.

Box Score

The DockHounds (24-44) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second on a two-out, infield single from Tristen Carranza.

After Goldeyes’ starting pitcher Landen Bourassa worked out of a first and second, no-out jam in the top of the third, the Goldeyes took the lead in the bottom half scoring four runs.  Kevin Lachance doubled down the left field line with one out and took third on an Eric Rivera single to left-centre.  Ian Sagdal crushed a double off the right-centre field wall that scored Lachance with the tying run.  Raul Navarro followed with a two-run double to left-centre that gave Winnipeg a 3-1 lead.  The double extended Navarro’s hitting streak to 21 games, which is the longest streak by a Goldeye since Chris Roberson in 2012.  Max Murphy capped the rally with an RBI single to centre that scored Navarro.

Bourassa struck out the side during a scoreless top of the fourth.  In the bottom half, the Goldeyes stretched the lead to 6-1.  Hidekel Gonzalez singled to left leading off and scored from first on another double down the left field line from Lachance.  Murphy later drove in Lachance with a two-out single to centre.

The Goldeyes stretched the lead to 7-1 in the home fifth on a two-out, RBI double to left-centre from Rivera.

Wilfredo Gimenez singled home Giovanni Brusa with two outs in the top of the sixth to cut the Goldeyes’ lead to 7-2.

Winnipeg opened an 8-2 advantage in the bottom of the seventh when Gonzalez drove home Reggie Pruitt Jr. with a sacrifice fly.

Navarro led off the bottom of the eighth with a single, and the Goldeyes made it 10-2 when Murphy smacked a two-run home run to right-centre.

Jordan Schaffer’s two-out, RBI double in the top of the ninth provided the game’s final margin.

Bourassa (3-3) picked up the win, allowing two earned runs on seven hits over seven innings.  Bourassa walked one and struck out five.

Evan Kruczynski (4-3) started for Lake Country and took the loss, allowing seven earned runs on 11 hits in four and one-third innings.  Kruczysnki walked two and struck out six.

Zac Ryan struck out two in a scoreless top of the eighth for the Goldeyes.  Murphy finished the game with four RBI.  All nine Goldeyes’ starters had at least one hit.
