Wild Things Win 15-5, Sweep Series Against Joliet

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington Wild Things (50-42) completed the sweep of the Joliet Slammers (41-52) with a 15-5 whitewashing at Wild Things Park Thursday night. The win keeps the Wild Things in control of a wild-card spot, as they get ready to head to Traverse City for the last four games of the regular season. The Wild Things scored three runs in the first, one in the second, five in the fourth, three in the fifth and three in the eighth to get to 15 runs on 21 hits against four sep- arate Joliet pitchers. Andrew Zellner took the loss for the Slammers, as he started the game and yielded four runs on five hits in just two innings. Four walks did not help his cause. For Washington, Tyler Garkow got the victory, as he went seven innings of seven-hit, three-run ball with five strikeouts before being relieved in the eighth inning of the game. Trevor Bradley pitched a scoreless inning and had a punchout, before Frank Trimarco was tagged for two runs en route to closing the game out, after entering with a 12-run lead.
