WASHINGTON, Pa (June 30) – Kyle Pollock snapped a 17-day dry spell without a home run when he belted a two-run shot to build a Wild Things a lead late in the sixth inning. The home run proved to be the difference maker in the game to give Washington (26-18) the win 9-6. Prior, newly acquired pitcher Taylor Bloom pitched 5.0 innings before being relieved after facing four batters in the fourth, three of which scored. The former Maryland Terrapin gave up six hits and four runs in his professional debut and held the Boomers (23-20) to just one run through five innings before losing it in the sixth. Schaumburg found itself down early. In the bottom of the second inning, newly acquired first baseman Conner Simonetti grounded into a double play, a ground ball on which right fielder Hector Roa was able to cross the plate. The very next batter, shortstop Brett Marr, hit a double and scored third baseman Mike Hill. This put Washington up over Schaumburg 2-0. In the third the Wild Things offense continued to press Boomers’ starting pitcher Will Stillman (0-1).
