Slammers Tidaback Signs With Rockies

JOLIET, Ill. -The Joliet Slammers presented by ATI Physical Therapy are proud to announce that catcher Sam Tidaback has been signed to a minor league contract by the Colorado Rockies. Tidaback was drafted during last summer’s MLB Draft in the 21st round by the Chicago Cubs.  The Plainfield, Illinois native spent last season in the Cubs minor league system, including time at Full Season A Ball with the South Bend Cubs.  Tidaback was released by the Cubs on April 28, 2017. This season was Tidaback’s first season with the Joliet Slammers. During his time with the organization, he was hitting .167 with three doubles and three RBI’s. Tidaback also contributed with a strong performance on the Slammers home opener with two doubles. Tidaback played high school baseball for Providence Catholic High School.  After high school, he played two seasons at both Ball State University and the University of North Georgia.  At North Georgia, he was a two time all-conference selection for the Peach Belt Conference.
