Murray Tosses Gem As Lake Erie Tops Schaumburg

AVON, OHIO. — The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, got a big performance from Donny Murray to salvage the series finale against the Schaumburg Boomers on Thursday night. Getting just enough offense, the Crushers defeated the Boomers 3-1. The Crushers took their first lead of the series in the first inning. With the bases loaded and no outs, Sean Hurley grounded out to shortstop. Kevin Lachance scored on the play. The Boomers evened things up in the second inning after singles by Zack Weigel and Dylan Jones. A sacrifice fly from James Keller scored Weigel and tied the game. In the bottom of the fourth, Cody Lenahan led off with a double and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Hurley followed with a sacrifice fly and picked up his second RBI of the game to give the Crushers a 2-1 lead. Lake Erie starter Donny Murray (3-4) was tossing a gem on the other side for the Crushers. Murray had to work around some trouble in the third inning but was able to do so.
