Lopez Shuts Out Gateway As Traverse City Takes Series Opener

SAUGET, IL- The Traverse City Beach Bums(29-28) got a monster performance from starter Reinaldo Lopez, and earned a 6-0 win over the Gateway Grizzlies(25-35) to open up this weekend’s three game series.   After two scoreless innings to start off the game, Ryan Kemp led off the third by reaching on a walk. Isaac Benard followed by cranking a two-run opposite field home run, his fifth long ball of the season, giving the Bums a 2-0 lead. Benard picked up his second hit of the night as he singled to center. Will Kengor followed with his own single, moving Benard to third, then, two batters later, Kendall Patrick drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, bringing the lead to 3-0.   In the eighth inning, Noah McGowan led off with a single to right. He then moved to second on a passed ball and to third on a wild pitch. Two batters later, Alec Olund drove him home with a sacrifice fly.
