CRESTWOOD, ILLINOIS. — The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, got a compete game effort from Alex Romero en route to a 2-0 win over the Windy City ThunderBolts. It was their first nine inning complete game of the season. Both starting pitchers seemed to be in control for the first six innings on Tuesday night. Windy City starter Jake Welch (5-4) and Lake Erie starter Alex Romero (7-6) cruised early on and neither team had a real scoring opportunity until the seventh. Doug Trimble led off the seventh inning with a triple to right-center field. The set up Bryan DeLaRosa, who doubled to give Lake Erie a 1-0 lead. DeLaRosa leads the team with 29 RBIs and 22 doubles. Dalton Wheat followed with a double of his own and the Crushers had runners on second and third with no outs. That ended the night for Welch who took the loss. Windy City brought in Drew Peden to replace Welch but a sacrifice fly from Zach Racusin scored DeLaRosa and the Crushers led 2-0. On the other side, Romero was tossing a gem for Lake Erie.
