Lake Erie Tops Traverse City In Pitchers Duel

AVON, Ohio — The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy Health, entertained a crowd of 2,574 fans at Sprenger Stadium to a pitcher’s duel on Saturday night, as the Crushers came away with their first win at home in over two weeks, topping the Traverse City Beach Bums, 2-1. The win for the Crushers (41-36) snapped a six game home losing streak, marking their first win at home since July 27, while the loss for the Beach Bums (34-42) was their fifth in their last six games on the road. The pitching was very good on both sides. The starting pitchers for both teams didn’t render many opportunities to score in the early stages of the game. Jake Repavich (1-1) had a one hitter going for the Crushers through six innings, and allowed just two Beach Bums to reach during that stretch. Traverse City’s Tyler Thornton (0-1) didn’t give the Crushers many chances either, as he limited Lake Erie to just one hit over the first five innings, while the Crushers had just five batters reach base during that stretch.
