AVON, Ohio — The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, received a complete game shutout from Steve Hagen on Monday afternoon, and came away with a 2-0 victory over the Windy City Thunderbolts at Sprenger Healthcare Stadium. The win for the Crushers (7-9) snapped a three-game losing streak, while the loss for the Thunderbolts (10-6) brought their four-game winning streak to an end. Hagen (2-0) was phenomenal for the Crushers, as he allowed just five hits throughout the afternoon, fanning a dozen batters in the process of tossing a complete game shutout. The Crushers snapped a scoreless tie with two outs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Connor Oliver reached on a one out base hit, and with two down, he stole second base, before scoring the game’s first run on a Josh McAdams’s RBI single to center. Lake Erie used the long ball to add to their lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. With the bases empty and one out, Tanner Lubach belted a solo homer to left, his second of the season, giving the Crushers a 2-0 advantage.
