SAUGET, Ill.- Benjamin Arnold is a young man who is looking to make his dream come true. He is a baseball player from St. Louis, Missouri. On April 24th, he stepped onto the field at GCS Credit Union Ballpark in Sauget, IL to show his skills at the 2017 Frontier League tryouts. Players from all around the nation make their way to these tryouts every year, including former minor league players. Ben is autistic and has been told by people his whole life that he would never be able to play baseball. Ben regularly plays for the St. Louis Challengers baseball league. This league welcomes adults and kids with disabilities to come out and play baseball. “There is no kid left behind. Everybody gets to bat. There are no outs, strikes, or balls. Just there to have fun,” Ben said. Ben’s father, James Arnold, who has been a part of the St. Louis Fire Department for many years, talked about the joy he feels seeing his son playing for a chance to be in the Frontier League. “It makes me feel good just seeing that he’s out here giving it his best and trying.
