FLORENCE, Ky. — The Florence Freedom, presented by Titan Mechanical Solutions, will play their home opener against the Southern Illinois Miners this Wednesday. Coming off a three-game sweep of the Gateway Grizzlies on the road to open the season this past weekend, the Freedom look to continue their early success in the first game at UC Health Stadium of 2017. The evening will feature an appearance by former Cincinnati Reds Chris Sabo, Glenn Braggs, Tom Browning and Herm Winningham, presented by Cornerstone Lillie Insurance and Hollywood Casino. Fans can enjoy a one-hour story time and Q&A session with the champs, and can also receive autographs and take pictures on the field with the players. The evening will also feature a Chris Sabo sports goggles giveaway to fans who pre-purchase a special package online at FlorenceFreedom.com. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m., and right-hander Jordan Kraus (1-0) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Freedom.
