Derrick Loveless Wins All-Star Game MVP as Experienced Tops Rookies 8-3

O’FALLON, MO—The 2018 Frontier League All-Star Game is in the books, and the fans were treated to a terrific performance at CarShield Field on Wednesday night. In front of a packed house, the Experienced Team beat the Rookie Team by a score of 8-3, and the Normal CornBelter’s Derrick Loveless was named MVP, thanks to a two-homer, five RBI performance from the outfielder. “It was amazing”, said Loveless after the game. “I really enjoyed playing with these guys, I had a great coaching staff and the fans made it really fun for me with the atmosphere they provided.” Loveless was also complimentary of this year’s host, the River City Rascals, for their efforts in putting on the event. “I’m just really grateful that River City put this together and did all this hard work. I know it’s not easy to prepare something like this – a lot of time and effort from their staff goes into it. They did a fantastic job.” The Experienced squad got out to an early 4-0 lead after a big first inning, thanks to a three-run shot from Loveless and a solo homer from his CornBelter teammate, Chris Iriart.
