TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. – The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, controlled their series opener with the Traverse City Beach Bums from start to finish, taking the contest 8-2. The Crushers (35-37) won their third straight game while the Beach Bums (26-45) have lost 13 of their last 15. Jordan Dean gave the Crushers an early lead in the first. With one out, the second baseman put a ball over the wall in left to put Lake Erie on top, 1-0. The Crushers doubled their lead in the second. Cody Lenahan was hit with a pitch to lead off the frame, and Josh McAdams added a single to put men on first and second. In his first at bat with the Crushers this season, Bryan De La Rosa bounced a ground-rule double over the right-field wall to score Lenahan and give Lake Erie a 2-0 advantage. The Beach Bums responded with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Kendall Patrick and John Montgomery led off the frame with back-to-back singles, and Jeremy Stidham drew a walk to load the bases with no outs.
