Big Seventh Innings Propels Lake Erie Past Florence

FLORENCE, KY. — The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, got back in the win column on Friday night, with a 5-4 win over the Florence Freedom. The win snapped the Crushers five game losing streak. The Freedom grabbed a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning against Lake Erie starter Micah Beyer (1-1). An RBI single by Ricky Ramirez Jr. scored Caleb Lopes to start things. The Crushers took the lead in the fifth when Aaron Hill hit a towering two-run home run. His second home run of the season gave Lake Erie a 2-1 lead. Florence even things up in the home half of the inning when Xavier Turner led off with a home run. The big inning for the Crushers came in the seventh when Bryan DeLaRosa led off with a double. A bunt single by Dalton Wheat put runners on the corners before a Zach Racusin double gave the Crushers a 3-2 lead. Doug Trimble delivered the big blow with a two-run double and the Crushers led 5-2. Both Trimble and Racusin finished with two hits apiece. Eight players had at least one hit for the Crushers. Florence starter Chuck Weaver (3-4) lasted 6.1 innings. He surrendered…
