13 Former Frontier League Players in MLB Spring Training

Sauget, IL – The Frontier League is proud to announce that 13 former Frontier League players will be attending Major League Baseball Spring Training. The number of players attending this year’s Spring Training is the largest amount that the Frontier League has had in any season. These 13 players are representing 11 different Frontier League teams over a 10-year period. Headlining this year’s invitees are Tanner Roark of the Washington Nationals and Jose Martinez of the St. Louis Cardinals. Tanner Roark (Washington Nationals) –  Played for the Southern Illinois Miners in 2008 before being signed by the Texas Rangers. Tanner cracked into the Major Leagues in 2013 with the Washington Nationals and last year posted a record of 13-11 with an ERA of 4.67 on the way to making the playoffs. Jose Martinez (St. Louis Cardinals) – Entered the Frontier League in 2014 with the Rockford Aviators before being signed by the Kansas City Royals in 2015. Last year, with the St. Louis Cardinals Jose appeared in 106 games while batting .309 with 14 homeruns and driving in 46. Ryan Atkinson (Arizona Diamondbacks) – Played for the Evansville Otters in 2016 where he pitched only 5.2 innings before being signed…
