For the third straight game, the Dogs drop another one to the red-hot Winnipeg Goldeyes, who have now won eleven straight. The Goldeyes won on Wednesday convincingly by a final of 14-5, and the Dogs will have to win game four of the series to stave off a sweep.
Dominic Guzman had a rough start. His first two innings were great, however he couldn’t record an out in the third before being taken out of the game, as six Goldeyes came across to score on five hits and two walks. Guzman recorded just one strikeout in his outing. Kelvan Pilot came in to relieve him and didn’t fare any better, allowing four more runs to score in the inning. He ended up recording five outs in total, but allowed seven runs and did not record a strikeout. Max Charnin made his Dogs debut, going an inning and a third, striking out one and allowing one run on four hits. Grant Cherry had a great outing, twirling two scoreless, allowing one hit and two walks, recording one strikeout. J.C. Flowers also kept Winnipeg off the board in the eighth inning, striking out one in his perfect frame.
The offense was quiet to start, but put together a decent performance, all things considered. Five runs on eleven hits was the final line, with RBI contributions coming from Jacob Maiben, Chance Sisco, Tyreque Reed, and Nick Roselli. Maiben had two RBI hits, a double and a single,
while Sisco and Roselli both had RBI singles themselves. The biggest offensive output of the game was Tyreque Reed’s eighth home run of the season, a line shot to left field that made it 14-3 in the seventh inning.
The Dogs finish their series in Winnipeg on Thursday, with first pitch set for 6:30 pm. All Dogs games can be streamed for free on aabaseball.tv.
