The Dogs dominated the Kansas City Monarchs by a score of 11-2 to even the series at one game apiece in Kansas City.
The Dogs’ bats got hot early before a Chance Sisco sacrifice fly in the top of the third inning got Chicago on the board. This would be followed by a Kansas City error that allowed Aaron Altherr to reach second on an infield ground ball, advancing Ethan Wilder to third. After Jaxx Groshans was hit by a pitch to load the bases, Brian Fuentes delivered a no-doubt grand slam over the left-field wall to complete a five-run third inning for the Dogs.
RBI from Sisco and Groshans in the fourth inning extended the Dogs’ lead to seven (8-1). Chicago would go cold for a few innings before another Sisco RBI drove in CJ Cepicky and Daniel Harris. This was followed by another RBI from former Phillie Aaron Altherr to make the score 11-1 in favor of Chicago.
Steven Lacey was excellent through seven innings pitched, allowing just one earned run on five hits while striking out six, one short of his career high. He was relieved by Rayne Supple, followed by Jacob DeLabio, who struck out the side to end the game.
The Dogs will complete their first road series of the 2026 campaign tomorrow in Kansas City. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
