Ottawa – The Texas Rangers have purchased the rights to Ottawa Champions LHP Josh Blanco and signed him to a minor league contract. Blanco, 26, appeared in 33 games for Ottawa in 2015, compiling a 3-2 record with a 2.45 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 44 innings pitched. He is the second Champions player to be signed by a MLB organization but the first to actually play for Ottawa, after pitcher Ethan Elias was signed by the Arizona Diamondbacks prior to the 2015 season.
