Demchak has been outstanding this season for first-place Sussex County, going 2-1 with a 1.72 ERA in 30 relief appearances. The native of Boca Raton, Fla., currently fourth in the league with 10 saves, did not allow a run in his first 20 appearances this season, and fanned 35 hitters in 31.1 innings of work while walking just 10. The 23-year-old is in his second professional season, also having spent the 2017 campaign with the Miners, where he went 0-1 with a 3.94 ERA in 31 relief outings. Prior to Sussex County, Demchak pitched collegiately at Florida International. Demchak is the second player in Miners history to have his contract purchased, joining RHP Jesse Beal, who joined the Philadelphia Phillies organization in 2017.
