Photo: Marc Lafleur / Ottawa Champions Thornhill, Ontario — After going 11-for-30 (.367) with a grand slam and seven runs scored in seven games, Ottawa Champions OF Chase Harris is the Can-Am League’s Player of the Week for the week of July 23-29, as chosen by PointStreak, the league’s official statistician. The Boise, Idaho, native’s first home run of the season was an impressive one, belting a grand slam Monday in his team’s 10-1 victory over Quebec. Harris also had a pair of three-hit games on the week, Thursday and Saturday in victories over Trois-Rivières. The 27-year-old is currently riding a 16-game hit streak, the second-longest in the league so far this season. Overall, Harris has appeared in all 68 of his team’s games this season, hitting .295 with 11 doubles, 24 RBIs and 35 runs scored. He is in his first season in the Can-Am League after spending the 2016 and 2017 campaigns with Lincoln and Gary of the independent American Association. Previously, Harris had spent two seasons in the Philadelphia Phillies organization after being chosen in the 14th round of the 2014 draft out of the University of New Mexico.
