Andrew Huffman Signs with Minnesota Twins

Players Signed with MLB Organizations

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Utica Unicorns RHP Andrew Huffman has signed a contract with the Minnesota Twins organization, announced by the United Shore Professional Baseball League’s Director of Baseball Operations Shane McCatty on Friday. Huffman is the 52nd player signed out of the USPBL.

“The most fun part of my job is when I get to call one of our players and tell them that a MLB Organization is signing them,” said McCatty. “It’s especially great when it’s a player of Andrew Huffman’s caliber. He is someone who has worked so hard, puts in effort every single day and strives to get better. Congratulations and good luck to Andrew and his family! Thank you to the Minnesota Twins Organization for taking a player like Andrew Huffman.”

A native of Kerhonkson, N.Y., Huffman started nine games on the mound for the Unicorns, posting a 2.95 ERA during the 2023 season. He struck out 79 batters and only allowed 18 earned runs in 55.0 innings pitched.

“Coming from a Division III school I didn’t really know what to expect last year. I came to the USPBL with two of my college teammates and we all started killing it. We felt like we belonged here.” Huffman said, “To get this phone call has been unbelievable. I still don’t believe it. I feel like someone is playing a joke on me. I’m so excited!”

Huffman earned pitcher of the year honors, voted on by USPBL Managers and Baseball Operations Staff. His Manager, Jim Essian, said, “Andrew Huffman is a hard working man. He’s reliable and he’s going to be a terrific asset to the Twins Organization!”

Huffman will be heading to Fort Myers, Fla. over the weekend.
