Kansas City 8, Fargo-Moorhead 1 – Box Score The Kansas City Monarchs finished off the 2021 campaign in style as they swept the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 3-0 in the American Association Finals after an 8-1 win Monday night at home. The Monarchs posted the best record in the regular season (69-31) and then followed that with a perfect postseason (6-0) to claim the franchise’s second title in four seasons. Kansas City took the lead in game three in the third inning as Finals MVP RF Gabriel Guerrero (2-for-5, 4 RBI) doubled with the bases loaded to score 2B Ryan Grotjohn, CF Paulo Orlando (3-for-3, 2 R) and C Alexis Olmeda. Guerrero added single in the fifth that allowed SS Morgan McCullough (3-for-5, 2 RBI) to score and, in the next at-bat, 3B Darnell Sweeney (3-for-5) scored on a wild pitch.
