The Milkmen open Routine Field, but fall into extra innings to RailCatsRain couldn’t dampen spirits of the Milkmen or their fans, as 3,284 packed into Routine Field for theinaugural home game. The city council of Franklin threw the first pitch and a helicopter delivering thefirst game ball were among the highlights of the opening ceremony. It was an eventful night with Van“the Milkman” McNeil and Milkmen Mascot “BoVine” introducing us to a colorful cast of characters inthe form of the Grassfed Family (Cletus, Granny, Mertle the Farmer’s Daugther) and Cheezer McGee,who helped bridge the innings with entertainment for the fans. Such spectacles included Cow races, theMilkmen’s take on famous sausage races seen at Brewers Games and a Streaker in the middle of thesixth inning.
