BOX SCORE AND GAME STATS By Adam Rickert Utica Unicorns 5 AT Eastside Diamond Hoppers 12 The Eastside Diamond Hoppers’ bats came to play Wednesday night, opening the week’s USPBL action with a 12-5 victory over the Utica Unicorns at Jimmy John’s Field. They picked up 12 hits on the night, continuing to score no matter the inning or the opposing pitcher: two runs in the first, three in the third, two in the fourth, three more in the seventh and two more in the eighth. In the end, 11 different Diamond Hoppers reached base at least once: all nine starters as well as pinch hitters Joe Fiorino and Mike Skoller (making his USPBL debut) Leading the way was designated hitter Chris Power, who went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. “I just try to stay simple the best I can” he said. “Just do what I can, put a ball in play and see what happens.” Power has now reached base in six consecutive games, reaching a total of 10 times in that span.
