Independent Professional Baseball Teams And Leagues For 2026

This page will provide you with the current list of professional independent baseball leagues and teams, including their website links/addresses.  Please note that this list is subject to change for a variety of factors.

The number of independent professional (aka “independent minor league”) baseball teams scheduled to play during the 2026 regular season is:  98 teams, including the “hybrid” Mid-America League model mentioned below and the new Canadian Baseball League (formerly the Intercounty Baseball League).

 

  • American Association teams = 12
  • Atlantic League teams = 10 
  • Frontier League teams = 18
  • Pecos League teams = 16
  • United Shore Professional Baseball League teams = 4
  • Pioneer League teams = 12
  • Empire Baseball League teams = 5
  • Mavericks Independent Baseball League teams = 4
  • Mid America League = 8 (a “hybrid” league concept with mostly summer college wood bat players but also some players with professional experience)
  • Canadian Baseball League (formerly the Intercounty Baseball League) = 9 teams announced so far

Spire City Ghost Hounds on “hiatus” for the 2025 season with a planned return for the 2026 season, but this is still to be announced (click here).

CANADIAN BASEBALL LEAGUE

This all-Canadian league is now a professional baseball league. It used to be the all-Canadian-based Intercounty Baseball League (IBL). More about this change is on the league website at this link.
