UTICA, Mich. – The Eastside Diamond Hoppers (8-5) rode a 13-hit offensive outburst to an 8-4 win over the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers (6-7) on Friday night at Jimmy John’s Field.
After falling behind 3-1 in the third inning, the Hoppers responded with runs in five consecutive frames, including a two-run homer by Andrew Bergeron in the 7th and a solo shot by Gio Ferraro in the 5th. Ferraro led the offensive charge with a 4-for-4 performance, reaching base all five times and driving in three runs.
The Beavers briefly held momentum in the 3rd thanks to a two-run single from Ray Hilbrich, but couldn’t sustain pressure as the Hoppers’ bullpen locked down the final four innings.
Harry Orth picked up the win for the Hoppers, throwing 5 innings and allowing three runs while striking out four. Riley Bost earned the save with two scoreless innings of relief.
