The Chicago Dogs split a doubleheader in Fargo last night, taking Game 1, 4-0 while dropping the back half by the final of 4-1.
Connor Curlis was dominant for the Dogs in game one of the twin bill. He pitched six innings of one hit ball, walking three and striking out a season high 11. Curlis became the first Dog in history to record back-to-back games of 10+ strikeouts.
Chicago got all the offense they would need in the fourth inning as a Dusty Stroup single and Henry Kusiak triple would give the Dogs a 1-0 lead. Chicago would tack on three more in the seventh, the big blow a Jacob Teter RBI double, and JC Keys would strike out the side in the bottom of the inning securing Curlis’s first win of the season.
Game two was another pitchers’ duel between the Dogs Jeff Lindgren and the RedHawks Tyler Jandron. Fargo would score off Lindgren in the first with a hit by pitch, walk and RBI single off the bat of Robert Perez Jr. Chicago would tie it up in the second as Kusiak would score Stroup with an RBI single.
It stayed tied at 1 until the sixth inning when Dillon Thomas picked up an RBI double to right center field, bringing home Alec Olund, putting the RedHawks up 2-1. Fargo would add a couple more in the bottom of the sixth and would eventually win, 4-1. Lindgren did not pitch badly for the Dogs, tossing 5.1 innings of four run ball, throwing 109 pitches.
These two teams will play the rubber match of their series today at Newman Outdoor Field, first pitch set for 7:05pm. All Chicago Dogs games can be streamed live and free on aabaseball.tv.
