The Dogs moved into a first-place tie last night, winning their 10th game in their last 13 tries, blanking the Cleburne Railroaders, 7-0.
Chicago jumped out ahead in the second inning as Chance Sisco hit his fourth homerun of the season, an opposite field shot off Railroaders starter, Mike Shawayrn.
It would stay that way until the fifth, when the Dogs would piece together four straight hits off Shawayrn, including RBI doubles from Reggie Pruitt Jr., and Brantley Bell and an RBI single from Henry Kusiak, making the score 4-0.
Two more would come across in the sixth as Johnni Turbo would pick up his first two runs knocked in of the year with a single to left, scoring Sisco and TJ Hopkins.
That was more than enough run support for Dogs starter Jeff Lindgren. Lindgren no hit Cleburne for 6.2 innings, before giving up a line drive single to Steven Rivas. He would settle for throwing seven innings of one hit ball, walking one, and striking out six, earning his first victory of the season. The win moved the Dogs to 13-10 and into a first-place tie with the Railroaders.
Game two of the six game series is set for tonight at La Moderna Field in Cleburne. For the Dogs it will be Brock Bell and for Cleburne Kade Mechals gets the start. First pitch is scheduled for 7:06pm and all Dogs games are streamed, live and free, on aabaseball.tv.
