Despite bullpen’s best efforts, Dogs blown out 10-2

The Dogs win streak ended at 2 games, as they dropped game two of the series against Sioux City at home, 10-2 on Tuesday morning. The bullpen didn’t allow a run after the 3rd inning, however the front end of the pitching staff surrendered ten runs prior to that, as the Dogs offense couldn’t muster enough to come back late in the game. Dusty Stroup scored on a Henry Kusiak single in the bottom of the second inning, but the Dogs wouldn’t score a run again until the bottom of the 9th inning, when Kyle Schmack got his first home run of the year to leave the park to right field. Henry Kusiak followed that up with a double, but was stranded in scoring position to end the game. Kenoi Cavaco was granted his first ever start at any level of baseball, but it didn’t go as planned, as the righty gave up seven earned runs in less than three innings. Luke Trahan gave up three in the third, but then settled down, getting the Dogs through the fifth with no additional damage. Zach Davidson, J.C. Keys, and DeLabio all had great outings, shutting out the X’s from the sixth on. The Dogs are back in action tomorrow for game 3 against the Sioux City Explorers. First pitch at Impact Field is scheduled for 6:30 pm. Connor Curlis gets his second start of the season, as the Dogs look to get back to .500 again.
