HIGH POINT, N.C. – Max Viera, a valuable utility player for the High Point Rockers, has had his contract purchased by the Toronto Blue Jays organization.
Viera had played in 44 of High Point’s 48 games this season, earning starts at second base, third base, DH as well as in right, left and center field. He was hitting .252 with four home runs and 21 RBI this season.
Viera, 25, joined the Rockers prior to spring training in 2025. He was the Opening Day DH as a rookie and went on to hit .261 with five homers and 53 RBI in 95 games. Following the season, he was playing with Great Britain in a World Baseball Classic qualifier tournament.
In 2026, Viera was among the most consistent hitters on the club. He had a four-hit game against York on May 5 and had a pair of home runs at Lancaster on May 12.
Viera is the eighth Rocker player this year to have his contract purchased by an MLB team or international league and just the second infielder, joining Murphy Stehly who was acquired by the Minnesota Twins in late April.
Since their formation in 2019, the Rockers have had 57 player contracts purchased with eight of those players going on to appear in a Major League game. In 2026, three former Rockers have pitched in the Majors including Huascar Brazoban with the Mets, Brandon Leibrandt with the Reds and Ryan Weiss with the Astros.
The Rockers open a six-game homestand tonight (June 16) against the Lexington Legends at 6:35 p.m. It will be Frank Night at Truist Point with every fan with a mustache, real or not, receiving free admission in honor of the Rockers mustachioed pitching coach, Frank Viola.
