UTICA, Mich. – Both teams were strong on the mound on Saturday, but Unicorns was just a little bit stronger at the plate in their 2-0 victory over Beavers. Dyson Johnson started the game for Beavers and recorded nine outs.
Unicorns opened the scoring in the third after Ethan Krizen doubled, scoring one run.
Matt Colucci earned the win for Unicorns. The starting pitcher gave up two hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out two and walking none. Johnson took the loss for Beavers. The right-handed pitcher went three innings, surrendering one run on one hit, striking out one and walking two. Damian Espinoza earned the save.
Pablo Ruiz, Ben Wilcoxson, and Ryan Maka each collected one hit for Beavers. Beavers turned one double play in the game.
Unicorns’s Krizen, the number eight hitter, led Unicorns with two hits in two at bats. Unicorns turned one double play in the game. Unicorns didn’t commit a single error in the field. Krizen had the most chances in the field with five.
