Mammoths Blank Hoppers Behind Vieaux’s No-Hitter

UTICA, Mich. – The Westside Woolly Mammoths (21-18) earned a 1-0 win over the Eastside Diamond Hoppers (22-16) in Game 1 of Saturday’s doubleheader at Jimmy John’s Field, highlighted by a historic performance on the mound.

Left-hander Cam Vieaux was untouchable, throwing a six-inning perfect game while striking out seven and not allowing a single baserunner. The veteran southpaw needed just 18 batters to complete the feat, improving his record to 4-0 on the season.

The Mammoths’ offense broke through in the fifth inning when Jose Cedeno delivered the game’s only run with a solo home run to left field. Ryne Guida added a single, while Dante Morton drew a walk and swiped a base to help manufacture pressure on the Hoppers.

For the Hoppers, Harry Orth was sharp despite the loss, allowing just two hits and one run while striking out seven over six innings.
