Baker dominates, bats alive as Dogs best Lincoln 6-1

For the first time at home this season, the Dogs won in commanding fashion, defeating the Lincoln Saltdogs in the first of three games by a final of 6-1. Dogs starter John Baker went 7 innings only allowing one earned run, and the bats were turned on from the first pitch, leading the Dogs to their third win in four games. Brantley Bell hit a home run to left on the first pitch in the bottom of the first inning, and the Dogs never looked back. The only run allowed by Baker and the rest of the staff came across the plate on a double in the top of the seventh inning, at which point the Dogs were up 5-0. Baker was relieved by Austin Marozas, who threw two scoreless innings, adding to his scoreless season through six outings. Both Brantley Bell and Reggie Pruitt Jr. had two RBI nights, with Pruitt driving in two on a single in the sixth inning, and Brantley adding a second to his total on a single later that same inning. Henry Kusiak put on a defensive show, Chance Sisco caught a runner stealing, and Jacob Teter made a nice pick at first base in the later part of the game to keep a runner off base. By all accounts, this was the definition of a team win. The Dogs are back in action tomorrow for the second game of a three-game set against the Lincoln Saltdogs. First pitch at Impact Field is scheduled for 6:00 pm. Brady Miller makes his first start of the season. The Dogs look to take a 2-0 series lead and set up a sweep on Sunday.
