
Lincoln, Nebraska– In the rubber game of a three-game series, the Lincoln Saltdogs were shutout by the Winnipeg Goldeyes, 5-0, Sunday afternoon at Haymarket Park. Winnipeg starting pitcher Landon Baurassa threw a complete game, five hit shoutout, denying the Saltdogs the series victory.
Winnipeg (4-6) scored five runs off 14 hits and committed no errors. Lincoln (2-7) had no runs, off five hits and committed one error, in a game that last two hours and twenty-six minutes, in front of 2,125 fans.
The Goldeyes started the scoring in the top of the second inning. Facing Lincoln starter Greg Loukinen, Winnipeg’s Jacob Robson led off the inning with a walk, then stole second. The next batter, Keshawn Lynch doubled, driving in Robson, to make it 1-0. Two batters later, Andy Armstrong singled, scoring Lynch, to put the Goldeyes ahead, 2-0.
Winnipeg added two more runs in the fifth. Jake Guenther reached on a throwing error by Lincoln pitcher, Loukinen. Guenther stole second, then, Max Murphy reached on an infield single. After a double-steal, two batters later, Tanner O’Tremba hit a two-RBI single, scoring Guenther and Murphy to make it a 4-0 Goldeyes’ lead.
The next inning, Winnipeg manufactured a run with two outs. Facing Lincoln reliever Dylan Beck, Ramon Bramasco doubled, Jake Guenther singled and Max Murphy singled, driving home Bramasco, to make it 5-0.
Bourassa capped off his complete game, 98-pitch performance in the ninth inning, by retiring the Saltdogs in order, getting Rolando Espinosa to ground out to third, for the final out of the game.
Landon Bourassa (1-1) pitched 9.0 innings, giving up no runs off five hits, struck out seven and did not walk a batter, earning the victory.
For Lincoln, Greg Loukinen (1-1) took the loss pitching 4.2 innings, giving up four runs, three earned, off nine hits, struck out four and walked one. Dylan Beck pitched 3.1 innings, yielding one run off five hits, struck out two and walked one. Nate Blain pitched 1.0 inning and struck out one.
Offensively for Winnipeg, Ramon Bramasco was 2-for-4. Max Murphy was 4-for-5 with an RBI. Tanner O’Tremba was 1-for-4 and drove in two runs. Keshawn Lynch went 2-for-5 with an RBI, and Andy Armstrong was 2-for-4 with a run batted in.
For Lincoln, Connor Denning was 2-for-3.
Winnipeg will begin its home schedule, hosting Milwaukee, Tuesday.
Lincoln continues its six-game homestand by hosting the Kansas City Monarchs in the first of a three-game series Tuesday morning, at Haymarket Park. First pitch is 11:05 a.m. The game will be live streamed at: www.aabaseball.tv.
