Laredo Stadium Sports Bar Tax Concern

There are recent complaints by owners of bars near the new stadium being constructed in Laredo, Texas for the independent baseball team which will play in the American Association in 2012.  This evidently stems from a supposed tax break which the stadium’s bar will receive but not be given to other bars in the area.

Some may say this is sour grapes on the part of the bar owners in the area; and others may say that this is legitimate based on legal statutes in Laredo and/or Texas.  If you have any thoughts or documentation on this then you are welcome to leave a comment.

The big concern for many citizens is that sports teams are getting special treatment so that they do not end up paying taxes, especially in this era of state and municipal budget problems.  Any specific information is welcome on this subject.
