Miles Wolff, commissioner of the Can-Am League, was quoted in a local newspaper article about the status of the Worcester Tornadoes including possible new ownership. He discusses the previous team owner, the loss of that owner’s status in the Can-Am League membership, the risks of losing the market to collegiate league baseball, and more.
Also is the confirmation that Trois-Rivieres will replace Worcester as the fifth Can-Am League team. Should Worcester come back to the league in 2013 then the Can-Am League will be at six teams. Last year, with both the American Association and Can-Am League teams having odd numbers of teams, there was “inter-league” play.
This raises the question about the American Association’s schedule for 2013. If the Can-Am League has an even number of teams, and the American Association has no attrition, then would the AA expand into other markets quickly or field a travel team like the Frontier League decided to do for 2013. Once this becomes clear then it will be posted on this website.
