The Big Bend Cowboys (Alpine, TX) won the Ferguson Jenkins Trophy for the 2010 Continental Baseball League Championship. They won the best-of-three championship series this afternoon by a score of 14-1 over the Las Cruces Vaqueros. This series marks the last games in the history of the CBL.
In the ensuing days, there will be more information about the CBL’s history including a link to a timeline of events as well as a blog post which will highlight the positives which came out of the league. Quotes from CBL alumni and fans will be included.
In addition, it appears that the officials involved with the CBL will not have any financial or operational involvement with the proposed Pecos League for 2011. While the current 2010 CBL teams will be invited to join the Pecos League, all of that will be determined. A new commissioner and new league executives will be named in the upcoming days and weeks.
