The upstart American West Baseball League (AWBL) announced today that Edinson and Edgar Renteria have invested money to own a part of the league and the territorial rights to Fullerton, California.  Currently, the returning Fullerton Flyers are scheduled to be a part of the AWBL for the 2013 season.

According to the league’s press release, Edinson is the “President with LIGA COLOMBIANA DE BEISBOL PROFESIONAL (LCBP) a professional baseball organization out of Colombia”.  Also according to the release Edgar, “runs Team Renteria with his brother Edinson helping Colombian baseball by giving professional instruction to Colombian professional baseball players and holding youth clinics for amateurs.”

There is no word yet if the Fullerton team will consist primarily of Colombian players, like what happened in the Golden Baseball League a few seasons ago.  Should there be more developments on this topic then they will be posted on this site.
