The Na Koa Ikaika Maui independent baseball team (Golden League) started practice this week.  It is the first pro baseball team in Hawaii in years, and their first home game will be against Tijuana on June 8.  Here is an article from the local paper about the team’s practice:

In his blog last week, Bob Wirz reported that Cory Snyder – manager of the new independent league baseball team in Maui (Golden League) – and his family received news that his daughter suffered significant injuries resulting from an auto accident.

IndependentBaseball.net extends its thoughts and prayers to the Snyder family and hopes that their daughter can recover as quickly and completely as possible.

Here is an update about Cory Snyder managing the Maui expansion franchise of the Golden League in 2010:  http://www.mauinews.com/page/content.detail/id/526927.html?nav=11

The only thing of interest is that the article, dated December 20 2009, states that the team president of Maui will also be the team president of the St. George Roadrunners.  The Roadrunners announced that they would fold earlier this month, so some clarification is still pending from Maui and/or the GBL.

If you ever want to know the reasons why someone wants to become an owner of an independent baseball team then check out this link:

It is always interesting to note that the business side of professional baseball (or any sport) is always measured differently than what fans and players consider to be a “success” based on the talent on the field.

The listing may be old as there was no date posted for it.   Should it be a live ad then here is some additional recent information about that particular market:
