JJ Cooper and Baseball America recently published the 2011 Independent Baseball Leagues Top Prospects report:

A few things to note:

  • The introductory paragraphs talk about the increase of affiliated minor league teams scouting the independent leagues for talent, so Baseball America feels that the best talent in the independent leagues already was claimed by affiliated organizations during the year
  • The article discusses loosened eligibility rules which tend to favor older, more established pro baseball players
  • The Top 10 list focuses on independent baseball league players who are 25 and under
