O’FALLON, MO – The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, clinched a series victory over the River City Rascals with an 8-7 win in 10 innings on Thursday night. The Crushers (25-31) picked up their second series win on the road this season while the Rascals (29-29) dropped the final two games of the series. Lake Erie tallied runs in the first inning for the third straight game. L.J. Kalawaia led off with a bunt single, and Jordan Dean put two runners in scoring position with a double in the next at bat. After Connor Simonetti drew a walk, Sean Hurley smacked the Crushers first grand slam of the year to take a 4-0 lead. The Rascals jumped back into the game with a three-run third. Clint Freeman led off with a single that took a funny hop past Oliver in centerfield that allowed the runner to advance to third, and Brandon Thomas broke the shutout with an RBI single in the next at bat.
