Crushers Take Series Finale Behind Kurokawa’s Gem

AVON, OH – The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, took their rubber match with the River City Rascals, 2-1, on Thursday night. The Crushers (28-34) clinched the season series as the Rascals (33-31) lost their second three-game set against Lake Erie this year. The Crushers took an early lead with two runs in the second. Sean Hurley led off with a walk, and Cody Lenahan added a double to put two runners in scoring position. In the next at bat, Austin O’Brien bounced ball to short to advance both runners and open the scoring. Connor Oliver followed with a deep flyout to right-center that allowed Lenahan to come home and put Lake Erie up 2-0. River City responded with their only run of the game in the third. Clint Freeman started the inning with a single, and Brandon Thomas bunted him over to second. Josh Silver connected for a single in the next at bat, and Johnny Morales put the Rascals on the board with a sacrifice fly to center to move the score to 2-1.
