TRAVERSE CITY, MI – The Traverse City Beach Bums(4-5) and Lake Erie Crushers(4-5), after being rained out yesterday, each took a game of today’s doubleheader by identical scores of 5-2. The Crushers came out flying in the first inning of game 1, putting up three runs. After Cody Lenahan and Connor Oliver walked, Sean Hurley hit a three-run home run over the wall in left field. They added two more in the fourth when Connor Oliver and Josh McAdams each scored on separate errors. The Beach Bums finally got on the board in the fifth after Nick Murphy led off with a triple, then he scored when Jeff DeBlieux grounded out. In the sixth, Alexis Rivera singled with one away. Elijah Trail moved Rivera to third on a single of his own, then, Ryan Garvey drove home Rivera with an RBI base hit to left. The Beach Bums had the tying run at the plate but could not come back any further. Lake Erie’s Adam Quintana earned the win with a seven strikeout performance in six innings. He improved to 2-0.
